Veronica Utton, Managing Director

Veronica is a dedicated talent management professional whose career has spanned the non-profit, public and private sectors.  Currently, she is managing director of V. Utton & Associates, providing boutique style talent management services to small and mid-size organizations with a focus in the non-profit sector.  Veronica is known to be a challenger of the status quo, with an ability to influence and create practices that are people-centric—to ultimately foster and celebrate diverse and inclusive workspaces.  Select services include: extensive audits of policies, practices and systems; development of policies, practices and systems; training design and delivery; employee-employer conflict mediations; search and interim management.

Additionally, Veronica is a Master Facilitator with Predictive Success, a coach and facilitator to senior leaders who are navigating career management, development and transition milestones with Radiant (previously Hazell & Associates) and, an educator of Human Resources at Centennial College and Conestoga College.

From 1999 to 2010 as the Head of Human Resources for UNICEF Canada–the Canadian arm of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF)—Veronica’s responsibilities covered all aspects of human resources strategy and planning; organizational development; change management leadership; people and operations management; volunteer development; facilities management; corporate operations and warehouse logistics.

As the Manager and subsequent VP of Human Resources at the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, and through 11 years of increased responsibilities, she successfully contributed to developing the role and credibility of the Human Resources function through integrated planning, resulting in centralized management systems and processes.

The early years of Veronica’s career—1984 to 1988—were spent in the financial services industry where she acquired and honed her accounting and business management knowledge.

Veronica served as a Member of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility Committee with Whitby Chamber of Commerce, she has contributed as a columnist and currently, as an e-Learning subject matter expert to CharityVillage; served as a Board member for the HR Council for the Voluntary & Non-Profit Sector; served as a member of HRPA’s Resource Centre Advisory Board and with the Girl Guides of Canada’s National Human Resources Committee and, currently serves as Past President of the Scarborough Ladies Volleyball Association.

Veronica holds various certifications including: Leadership Circle Profile™, Six Sigma Green Belt, Predictive Index™ (PI) Analyst & Facilitator, Career & Life Options Retirement Coach and a Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) with a Post-Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management (Seneca College) and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology (York University).
